Classes Offered

Group Classes:

- How to Write Sketch Comedy (Virtual) 

Learning types of scenes, how to come up with a premise, with an emphasis on concise writing and comedic turns. 5 week curriculum, resulting in a four scene sketch packet! Extra time allotted in these classes to read through everyone's scripts. (5 classes total, 2.5 hrs each)
 

- Improv for Corporate Team Building (In-Person)

Fun and basic improvisation games for co-workers to bond in a low-stakes environment.
(1 class total, 2.5 hrs, 30 
participants max)

 

- Physical Clowning for Stage (In-Person)
Movement exercises and group games to enhance your awareness of personal physicality within a character and shared space between actors, for comedic effect. (1 class total, 2.5 hrs)
 

PRIVATE CLASSES:

- The Performer Self for Non-Actors (Virtual)
Acting fundamentals from vocal warm-ups to improvisation, these classes will help build confidence in dialogue, teach the importance of facial expression and physical posture to engage an audience with your best performative persona. (1-3 classes available, 1 hr each)

- Sketch Consultation (Virtual)
A review of your pre-written sketch and constructive feedback to make your scene better for stage or film.
(1 hr)

- How to Write Sketch Comedy (Virtual)

Learning types of scenes, how to come up with a premise, with an emphasis on concise writing and comedic turns. 5 week curriculum, resulting in a four scene sketch packet! These classes are shorter than the group sketch classes because the focus is solely on one person and less material will be read. 
(5 classes total, 1.5 hr each)

Edna Mira Raia is an award-winning comedic writer, a producer of San Francisco sketch comedy since 2013 and a graduate of The Second City Chicago. She is also a director, dramaturg, clown, improviser, drag performer and teaching artist. Her solo and collaborative work has toured in local and national festivals and she is the Artistic Director of her own company, Potatoes Mashed Comedy, through which she writes and performs socially conscious theatre.
